The 5 R's to a fabulous wardrobe
Kia-ora...hello from New Zealand. Last month found me back in New
Zealand training image consultants. I had my mum and my sister there
with me so I managed to merge business and pleasure.
Over the
past month my focus has been on keeping up with everything that is
coming my way. Thank goodness I took the time to create some space in my
life last month. The highlight for me after last months article was
being in New Zealand and having two of the speakers at the conference
that I was attending mention my last article. First there was Samantha
Hannah, who is a fabulous image/consultant stylist over there, sharing
her thoughts from reading my newsletter and then Catherine Smith an
amazing wardrobing and space expert. If you live in New Zealand you
should see if you can get either of these women to help you. It was
during Catherine's session I attended at a conference here that I came
up with a great system for resurrecting your wardrobe. I am going to
share that with you in this newsletter as well as some Christmas gifts
ideas.
Last month I recommended that you create SPACE in your
lives and wardrobes to allow more life, energy or even things to come
into your life.
This month I am going to share with you my 5 R's for making space in your wardrobe. Take everything out of your wardrobe and designate it into one of the following 5 piles.
Return
- if you like the piece, it fits you well, it still looks fresh, it
goes with many other pieces in your wardrobe and the colour suits you.
So basically it is a perfect wonderful piece that has loads of value
left simply RETURN it back into your wardrobe.
Relocate
- you find a piece that means a lot to you. It may have been an outfit
you wore for a special occasion that you no longer wear every day, or
something that even though it does not fit you nay more or it is too
young for you, you simply cannot part with it. There will always be such
pieces in many wardrobes. Especially if you are a very sentimental
type. Renovate- times
change and fashion moves and therefore so must your clothing. Many times
an item of clothing does not need to be discarded. It just needs a
little zhooshing, revamping or renovating. It is always best to go
shopping in your wardrobe to see what you have that can receive a new
lease on life sin ply by shortening, lengthening, dyeing or just new
buttons.
Recycle-
so you have a piece in your hands which is in great condition, it
doesn't fit, it isn't your Colour or even your style. In short it is
wasting space and reminding you of wasted dollars. Allow yourself the
freedom to let it go onto another home. You have the option of selling
it through a recycle boutique, give it to a charity store or donate it.
Just because it isn't perfect for you doesn't mean it has lived it's
life.
Remove - aah, the
final place. These items don't suit you now, have no emotional
attachment, are useless to anyone else so they are only good for the
trash or as cleaning cloths. Get them out of your closet and out of your
life. Unless as I mentioned they can be reused as as something other
than clothing.
Your wardrobe is the place you go to every morning
to set the tone of your day. It is important that everything inside
this space speaks to you, makes you feel fabulous and works for and not
against you daily.
Take the time to ensure that your wardrobe represents you. It is your ambassador of style.
Look at their lips to seal your gift
When buying for a woman, look towards her lipstick for inspiration for a Christmas gift.
Women
who wear distinctive red or hot pink lipstick, are quite dramatic. They
will love very feminine gifts, perfumes, style consultation or strong
distinctive pieces of Jewellery.
Women who wear a sheer light
gloss are delicate types. If they wear a pink or apricot shades they
will appreciate anything which makes their home more welcoming, like
candles, delicate Jewellery or oils. A Colour consultation will also a
very welcome gift.
Women who wear a lipstick in a mid pink, mauve
tones love scarves, books and a dinner for two. A shopping excursion
will also make them feel special.
Women who wear deep browns will love new handbags, rustic or gold Jewellery. A copy of Lattes, Laughter & Lipstick.
Lastly women who don't wear lipstick will either like handcrafts or cooking books. Someone else to shop for them.
Before
you ask, is there any science behind these suggestions? Now that is for
me to know and for you to ask. Just remember your girlfriends just love
to catch up so anything you bring is an extra gift.
